Two on the Trot for Yes Yes Yes Blueblood

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 17

The last foal of blue hen Pretty Penny might be set to uphold the family tradition of gaining Black Type after scoring a stylish win at Canterbury on Friday night.

The Chris Waller trained Yes Yes Yes gelding Pretty Powerful was a last start maiden winner at Newcastle on Boxing Day at his second start and kept up the good work when dashing home for Zac Lloyd to win the Benchmark 64 event over 1550m.

Pretty Powerful has two wins from three starts with prizemoney of $81,000 and certainly appeals as a horse that has more to offer as he matures which has been a hallmark of many of his family members.

A homebred for Dr Denis and Claire O’Brien’s Clairden Racing, Pretty Powerful is the ninth winner from nine foals to race from blue hen Pretty Penny, whose star offspring are headed by Group winners Sertorious, Pretty Brazen and Dollar for Dollar, who were all second in G1 races, as well as Group winners Pretty Amazing and Clifton Red, not to mention three more stakes-placed horses in Rezealient, I Am Titanium and Fortune of War, the dam of rising star HK Group III winner Patch of Theta.

Foaled and raised at Coolmore, Pretty Powerful is the last foal for Pretty Penny, who has now been retired, and it will be no surprise if he progresses into Black Type company as have all of his siblings that have raced!

There were 26 stakes run at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival last week and they were all won by different horses with no horse successful more than once which is somewhat unusual, although we shall always wonder could have been for Tentyris.
