Stylish Debut Winner for Farnan

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 15

Golden Slipper winner Farnan got a second winner at Ipswich on Wednesday with an impressive debut victory for the Tony Gollan trained filly Impervious, who has a half-brother by Stay Inside headed to Inglis Classic.

Placed in two previous trials, one of them behind Amosu, who won the $500,000 Magic Millions Debut, Impervious was a hot favourite for the 800m scamper and gave Angela Jones an easy steer as she chimed in and forged clear to win by a length.

Impervious was an $80,000 Magic Millions Weanling purchase from Vinery stud for Wahha Thoroughbreds, who then passed her in at Magic Millions as a yearling shy of her $200,000 reserve and she runs for a big group of owners including Strong Bloodstock.

Impervious was an $80,000 MM weanling purchase.

Impervious is the first foal of Northern River, a winning half-sister by Ad Valorem (USA) to stakes-winner Vinco and Group II placed Berimbau, the dam of 10 time Group I winner, NZ Horse of the Year and Champion Australian Sprinter Imperatriz, who sold at Magic Millions as a broodmare prospect last year for $6.6 million.

The second foal of Northern River is a colt by another Golden Slipper winner in Stay Inside that will be offered at Inglis Classic by Redbank North as Lot 481.

Impervious is the second winner for Kia Ora Stud’s Farnan joining $1million ATC Golden Gift winner North England.

Farnan had a very strong sale at Magic Millions with 20 yearlings averaging $276,750 and his top seller at $750,000 was a colt from Festivity bought by James Harron Bloodstock Colt Partnership/Tony Fung Colts.
