Northern Meteor Legacy Lives On

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday March 6
Prematurely dead after just four seasons at stud, Northern Meteor is poised to leave a lasting legacy with three of his young sire sons now on the board with winners, while another two are proving popular at the yearling sales this year with their first offspring on offer.

Leading First Season Sires by Earnings at 6/3/2018

Northern Meteor has three sons now in the Top 10 with his dual Group I winning son Zoustar out in front setting the pace thanks to his brilliant daughter Sunlight.

Also making their mark have been Eurozone, whose first winner Krone, landed the Listed SAJC Cinderella Stakes last Saturday and Fighting Sun, who has had three winners in Australia and New Zealand including the Group III place Platinum Mam'Selle.

Northern MeteorNorthern Meteor was the Champion First Season Sire in 2012/2013 finishing the season with 18 winners of $1.8 million headed by Group I winner Romantic Touch, so the burgeoning success of his sons is only fitting.

The next generation of Northern Meteor sires are the full brothers Deep Field and Shooting to Win, whose first progeny have been selling this year.

Including the first two sessions of Inglis Premier, Deep Field has had 98 yearlings sell so far at an average $151,627, while Shooting to Win has had 47 sell at an average $115,478.
