$1.8Million for Yulong Bred and Sold Written Tycoon Colt

Yulong sold a Written Tycoon filly from star mare Away Game on the first day at Magic Millions for $1.8million and got the same amount for a colt by the same sire from another star mare In Her Time on Thursday.

The handsome chestnut was purchased by Tom Magnier and is the third foal of In Her Time, a dual Group I winning sprinter that banked over $3.7million on the track before she was purchased by Yulong for $2.2million at the 2021 Inglis Chairman’s Sale.

Magnier bought the full brother to this colt at Magic Millions last year for $750,000 and he has been named Patonga with Chris Waller to train.

“Very happy to get this horse. Obviously we got the brother last year for the syndicate as well, again we’re very lucky to have the people we have in this syndicate and everybody was very keen on the horse,” said Tom Magnier.

“You could see again from the bidding the good judges were on this horse.

“I think Chris has an opinion of the brother, which probably gave us the confidence to come back this year.”

In Her Time comes from a renowned speed family that has also produced Everest winner Yes Yes Yes and she has more in the pipeline having produced a filly by Diatonic (Jpn) last spring before being covered by Pierata.

Turning 23 this year, Written Tycoon covered a smaller book of 63 mares in 2024 at a private fee.

The filly from Away Game and colt from In Her Time now hold the honour of being the equal highest priced yearlings for Written Tycoon.
