Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Monday December 23

A busy set of trials at Rosehill on Monday morning featured four heats for juveniles and the winners were all unraced youngsters by Tassort, Too Darn Hot (GB), Super Seth and Golden Slipper winner Farnan, while a Wootton Bassett (GB) colt showed he could possibly still get to the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

The Trilogy colours are carried by the Peter Snowden trained Tassort filly Miss Freelove, who impressed at her first trial on December 9 when finishing second and looked good again when winning this time by three-quarters of a length. She as asked to find the line by Tommy Beery and gave a good response.

A $110,000 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase from Twin Hills Stud for  Trilogy Racing/Suman Hedge Bloodstock, Miss Freelove is a half-sister to two winners from unraced Sebring mare Vee, a half-sister t stakes-winner Terror Force.

Miss Freelove was a $1110,000 MM Adelaide purchase.

Running very similar time was the John O’Shea and Tom Charlton trained Farnan colt Iniesta, who was having his first trial and  scored a narrow win over the speedy Hellbent filly In Limbo, who led and was held together with expensive Extreme Choice Guardsman in third place after being given a liven up to get into the race

Iniesta was a $240,000 Magic Millions purchase from Widden Stud for John O'Shea Racing/James Bester Bloodstock and is a half-brother to two winners from Group II placed Nicconi mare Nieta.

Iniesta was a $240,000 Magic Millions purchase.

Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou produced the unraced winner Sanctified, who is by Super Seth, but the real interest in the trial was in Wootton Bassett (GB) colt Gallo Nero, who was given a tick over trial following his good debut fourth to The Playwright and Icarian Dream at Rosehill on November 30. Sanctified did everything right to lead and win, but I want to be on Gallo Nero when he goes back to the races and being MM eligible he could still get to the MM 2YO Classic if the cards fall his way.

Sanctified was a $260,000 Inglis Classic purchase for his trainers from the Lime Country Thoroughbreds draft and is from winning O’Reilly mare Sacred Siren, who has a yearling filly by Hello Youmzain (FR) headed to Karaka Book 1 for Jameison Park as Lot 262.

Sanctified was a $260,000 Inglis Classic purchase.

Interesting to see a Kris Lees trained trialler in Sydney and Too Darn Hot (GB) colt Rivellino had blinkers fitted after his first trial when fourth at Newcastle and showed the desired improvement. He travelled wide all the way and surged to the line to win by nearly two lengths, but still looks quite green.

A $180,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Lees Racing / Bahen Bloodstock  from Lime Country Thoroughbreds, Rivellino is the second foal of good metro winning So You Think mare Intrinsic, a daughter of multiple Group placed mare Vecchia Roma.

Rivellino was a $180,000 Inglis Classic purchase.
