Twin Hills Stud are prepared to be kept busy at Magic Millions presenting a quality draft of 15 youngsters by a diverse range of proven and promising sires with the full brother to Group II ATC Silver Slipper Stakes winner Straight Charge an obvious highlight.

Straight Charge was one of the star juveniles of last season carrying the Yulong colours to victory in the Group II ATC Silver Slipper before finishing second to Switzerland in the Group II ATC Todman Stakes and a close sixth in the Golden Slipper.

“We consigned Straight Charge to the sales as a weanling and this colt is a similarly attractive horse,” said Olly Tait.

By Written By from well bred I Am Invincible mare Matryoshka, Straight Charge was sold by Twin Hills for $160,000 at the Inglis Weanling Sale and proved a profitable pinhook for his new owners when re-sold at Magic Millions for $270,000 to Yulong.

His full brother will be offered as Lot 645 and is one of 10 lots in the sale by Written By, who has another good juvenile this season in The Playwright, who won on debut in Sydney for the Waterhouse Bott stable and was a close third in the Group III BRC BJ McLachlan Stakes last Saturday.

Lot 645 - Written By colt from Matryoshka.

Olly Tait is liking what he is seeing from this eye-catching colt.

“He has loads of strength and plenty of scope. A very good colt. He is bred to be a fast two year old and he looks like it,” said Tait.

“Written Tycoon (sire of Written By) over this female family is dynamite with his grand-dam Winaura producing Group winners Winning Rupert and Tycoon Evie to the champion sire.”

Lot 205 Filly Anders x Belveeta (USA), by Honor Code

From the second crop of young speed sire Anders, already the sire of smart winner Wisnierska. Second foal of unraced half-sister to 2007 Champion US Turf Horse English Channel and to the dams of Group Winners Bobby’s Wicked One and Lucida.

This has been a quality filly since the day she was born. She has an outstanding pedigree, which possesses real quality. She is a glorious walker, great strength and a quality head.

Lot 289 Filly St Mark’s Basilica (Fr) x Cosmic Powers, by Not a Single Doubt

From the first crop of 2021 Cartier European Horse of the Year St Mark’s Basilica. Half-sister to stakes-winner Lord Cosmos and is from the family of stakes-winners Pistols and Keep the Faith.

It’s always interesting to see the first progeny of high profile stallions and this filly, by the imperious St Mark’s Basilica, is a beauty. She is so strong, has great length and powers when she walks. Her mother is doing the job at stud. This filly’s half sister, by Peltzer, sold for $220,000 at the MM’s in 2024 and is in training with Philip Stokes.

Lot 321 Colt Peltzer x Didn’t Even Kiss Me, by Murtajill

From the second crop of fast G2 winning So You Think son Peltzer. Third foal of a six time winning daughter of imported US stakes-winner Homerette.

This colt is one of the nicest by Peltzer that we have had at Twin Hills. He has been a striking horse from the day he was born. He has great balance, plenty of strength and a lovely head. He moves beautifully. He is from a strong American family and descends from the great mare La Troienne.

Lot 802 Colt Home Affairs x Princess of Queens, by Magnus

From the first crop of Champion 3YO Sprinter Home Affairs. Fourth foal of Group III winner Princess of Queens, a full sister to Group III winner Prince of Brooklyn and fourth dam is Australian Horse of the Year and Champion 3YO Research. His three year old half-brother (by Zoustar) is with Jamie Richards in Hong Kong and his two year old half-brother (by I Am Invincible) was purchased as a yearling by Bob Peters.

There is plenty of talk about the first crop of Home Affairs, which is understandable if this colt is any indication. He is a beauty. He’s a big horse for his age but has a lovely head and a great shape. Every time he parades, he gets his head down and does it with purpose. He is out of a mare who promises to throw a very good horse.

Lot 872 Colt Captivant x Saivata, by Snitzel

First foal of a winning daughter of imported SW Inglorious (Can), the 2011 Champion Canadian 3YO Filly and from a prolific US Black type female family. Inglorious was sold to Kia Ora Stud for US $1.35 million and imported to Australia. Bred on similar Capitalist (sire of Captivant) x Snitzel cross that has produced Group winners Marine One, Cannonball and SW Profiteer and more broadly Written Tycoon (sire of Capitalist) x Snitzel that has produced G1 winners Private Life, Captured by Love and Velocious.

This is a very strong colt who has been a striking horse the whole way along. He has plenty of size and scope and he looks forward. He has a great pedigree and is by a first season sire that has plenty of merit.
