He ain't Heavy

Darryl Sherer - Sunday February 18

Age has not wearied Heavy Metal who cruised to victory in Saturday night's Group III Firebreak Stakes (1600m) at Meydan.

The eight-year-old son of Exceed And Excel has won six times over the distance at the track and was untroubled to sail home 9 3/4-lengths clear of Cosmo Charlie (Stay Thirsty) with Fantastic Four (Forestry) a further 6 1/4-lengths away third.

It is the 14th win from 57 starts for the British-bred, the second foal out of Rock Opera, winner of the Group I Alan Robertson Fillies Championship in South Africa.

Heavy Metal won the Group II Richmond Stakes at Goodwood as a two-year-old and has won four times at stakes level in the UAE.
