French Oaks Winner to be Offered for Sale

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday November 20

The European broodmare sales promise to produce some big results in coming weeks with Irish Oaks winner You Got to Me confirmed for the Tattersalls December Mares Sale, while Arqana have announced they will offer French Oaks winner Sparkling Plenty at the ARQANA Vente d’Élevage on Saturday 7 December in Deauville.

Sparkling Plenty was offered at the Goffs London Sale earlier this year a day after her win in the Group I Prix de Diane and after a tense bidding contest was eventually recorded as a sale at £5m with Al Shaqab purchasing a half share in her from owner breeder Jean-Pierre-Joseph Dubois.

Sparkling Plenty is going to attract global interest.

Sparkling Plenty has raced three times since the sale in G1 races placing in two of them.

The best three-year-old filly in Europe to be offered at public auction this year with a rating of 115, SPARKLING PLENTY is catalogued as lot 200 and will be consigned by Haras de Bouquetot.

Unbeaten in two outings at two, including in the Prix Delahante (L.) over 1700 metres, she posted an impressive victory in the Prix Sandringham (Gr.2) over 1600 metres by three lengths in June before taking the prestigious Prix de Diane Longines (Gr.1) where she beat TAMFANA and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Gr.1) runner-up AVENTURE. Able to race over a range of distances, she most recently finished third in the Prix de l’Opéra (Gr.1) Longines.

The blue-blooded daughter of Kingman, out of a mare by Frankel, hails from an iconic Schlenderhan maternal line, that of STACELITA, also the winner of the Prix de Diane (Gr.1) and now an exceptional broodmare in Japan, as well as SAUTERNE, the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (Gr.1) winner.

‘’We are delighted to present a Prix de Diane winner at the upcoming ARQANA Vente d'Élevage’’, said Haras de Bouquetot’s Director Benoit Jeffroy.

‘’A Classic winner with such a pedigree represents a rare opportunity and an exceptional racing and breeding potential.’’

“It’s an exceptional opportunity to be able to offer a Classic winner at the end of her three-year-old season,” said ARQANA President Olivier Delloye.

“Sparkling Plenty has demonstrated her class since her debut and has fantastic opportunities on the racecourse at four, being just as brilliant over a mile as she is over 2100 metres. Sparkling Plenty also comes from one of the finest European families that includes Stacelita, Sauterne and Soul Stirring, that have shone at the highest level both in Europe and Japan. She is an absolute rarity at public auction and we are honoured to be able to offer her in the Arqana ring on December 7.”
