Rising 22, champion New Zealand sire Pins is approaching the twilight years, but he still has more to offer and sired a very smart two year-old winner at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

Jay Jay D'Ar - Grant CourtneyThe Patrick Payne trained filly Jay Jay D'Ar was specced at odds, backed from $13 into $10 and duly produced a forward effort to win on debut.

She tracked the leaders in third place and kicked on strongl;y to the line to win the 1000 metre juvenile scamper by a long head.

A modest $40,000 NZB Select Yearling Sale purchase for her trainer from the Kilgravin Stud draft, Jay Jay D'Ar is the second winner for Group III placed Somethymesoon, a full sister to stakes-winner Post Thyme.

The progeny of Pins were in high demand during the 2018 NZB Book One Sale with yearlings selling for up to $420,000 and averaging $112,368 (nearly four times his service fee).
