Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Thursday November 14

There were just two heats for juveniles at Rosehill on Friday morning, but they held plenty of interest with colts by Wootton Bassett (GB) and Farnan catching the eye.

Gallo Nero (Wootton Bassett (GB) and King of Pop (Farnan) had both trialled well previously and looked good again with the Hawkes trained colt doing everything right and scoring by a long neck over King of Pop, who settled back and charged home late.

Hawkes Racing produced the first Aussie two year-old starter for Wootton Bassett last Saturday in West of Swindon, who ran second in the $1million ATC Golden Gift and Gallo Nero also looks a likely type.

A $370,000 Magic Millions purchase, he is the first foal of metro winning I Am Invincible mare Chianti, a daughter of South African Group winner Sweet Sanette (SAfr).

The other heat was won by the Waterhouse Bott trained Written By filly The Playwright, who improved at her second trial to work forward and lead before kicking on to win by a length and a half. Nice run at first outing from Extreme Choice filly Extremely Perfect, given an educational trial by Tommy Berry and looking forward to seeing her again.

The Playwright is from speedy stakes-placed juvenile Sugarparma and was a modest $60,000 Magic Millions Book 2 purchase for  Tricolours Racing & Syndications Pty Ltd and Newhaven Park will offer her half-sister by Xtravagant at the sale in 2025 as Lot 1397.
