First Stakes-Winner for Pinatubo

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday November 12

The European flat season is all but over and Darley shuttler Pinatubo (IRE) has left it until the very last moment to post a stakes-winner from his first crop of two year-olds with Tipinso landing his first Black Type victory in the Listed  Criterium du Languedoc (1600m) at Toulouse in France.

The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained colt surged late to snatch a nose win taking his overall record to three wins from four starts.

He is the first stakes-winner among 19 first crop winners for Pinatubo that also include four stakes-placed performers.

A Champion 2YO Colt and dual Group I winner by Shamardal, Pinatubo is at Darley NSW this spring standing at a fee of $55,000 and will have his first Australian bred yearlings at sales here in 2025.

Pinatubo is priced at £30,000 in the UK for 2025 down from £35,000 in 2024.
