First Season Favourites at Classic

A record breaking 2018 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale Book One produced strong results for first season sires with Darley's Brazen Beau the leader by average and Newgate Farm's Deep Field the leader by aggregate.



I Am Invincible's dual Group I winning son Brazen Beau had the honour of siring the highest priced yearling sold at this sale with his colt from Written Dash fetching $480,000 for Tyreel Stud when bought by Orbis Bloodstock.



Brazen Beau had four yearlings average $193,750, which was the second highest average of all sires and bettered only by his own sire I Am Invincible, who had 11 yearlings average $260,455.

Newgate Farm's Dissident and Deep Field were next on the list sorted by average, the Australian Horse of the Year having 21 yearlings average $121,071, while his barn-mate had 29 average $119,810.

Both stallions had a high-water mark of $300,000 for their offspring, Dissident achieving his best result with a colt from Future Saint (USA) that was bought by George Moore Bloodstock from the Newgate Farm draft, while Deep Field starred with his colt from Uncommon that made $300,000 for Lucas Bloodstock when secured by McEvoy Mitchell Racing/ Blue Sky Bloodstock.

Both colts were highly successful pinhooks for their respective vendors.

The Dissident colt from Future Saint was bought by Newgate Farm as a weanling at the inaugural Inglis Chairman's Sale for $160,000 from the Rothwell Park draft, while the Deep Field colt from Uncommon was bought by David Lucas Bloodstock as agent for Phoenix Thoroughbred from the Newhaven Park draft at the same sale for $180,000.

Coolmore's Rubick had big numbers with 20 yearlings averaging $88,650 and had the next highest priced individual sale with a colt from Honeymoon Cruise fetching $290,000 for Widden Stud when bought by Worldwide Bloodstock.
