Three to Follow from Flemington Jumpouts February 9

Darryl Sherer - Monday February 12

Another busy morning of jumpouts last Friday with the autumn feature races upon us and plenty of juveniles warming up.

Five of the 14 heats were for two-year-olds with the Lindsay Park Racing-trained Debutant Stakes winner Qafila leading most of the way to win heat two in 48.39 seconds.

Friday's heats were on the inside grass, starting from the 1400m and on the rail, riders reporting the ground riding in the good (4) range.

CANZONET (2c Exceed and Excel x Renaissance)
Broke from the middle in heat 10 and settled on the lead after 100m without any urging fromDamian Lane. Still well on the bridle before the bend with Absaroka on his outside and the Lindsay Park Racing-trained filly easing clear to score by half a length in 49.09 seconds, the first two pulling some six lengths clear. Trained byJames Cummings, Canzonet is an unraced colt by Exceed And Excel and already shown ability in two barrier trials in Sydney. Absaroka raced three wide to the bend and was strong through the line. An unraced filly by Redoute's Choice with her granddam the Group II Roman Consul Stakes winner Montana Downs.
Career (Unraced)

CHESS STAR (2c Fighting Sun x Social Glow) Chess Star was a $120,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Sun Stud draft
Flashy colt by Fighting Sun out of the Christmas Stakes winner Social Glow and trained byGai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. Broke from the middle of the field in heat four and settled on the lead. This was sedately run early before building and Chess Star continued to lead, quickening nicely when pressed on his outside by an unnamed All Too Hard colt trained by Leon and Troy Corstens. Through the line a half length in front of the All Too Hard colt in 49.87 seconds and comfortably on the bridle. Finished second in a barrier trial at Randwick in January and looks ready to go to the races.
Career (Unraced)

DES MOINES (2f War x Inkster)
Broke on terms in heat eight then took several strides to find her feet in a slowly run heat early. Came through along the inside and given a dig past halfwayto come through and lead off the bend, pricking her ears and having a look around when going two lengths clear. Eased towards the finish, a half-length in front of the Lindsay Park Racing-trained Cristal Eyes, an unraced filly by All Too Hard, in 51.04 seconds. The time was slower than other heats but the style suggests Des Moines, a well-grown daughter of War out of the VRC St Leger winner Inkster and trained by Mike Moroney, has ability and can only improve.
