Red Letter Day for Written Tycoon

Mark Smith - Saturday February 10

The day just gets better and better at Caulfield for Woodside Park Stud's flagship stallion Written Tycoon who celebrated his third stakes-winner on the day when defending champion Super Cash burst between runners to down the veteran Flamberge and the Caulfield Guineas winner Merchant Navy in the $200,000 Group II Schweppes Rubiton Stakes (100m).

Following wins by the 2yo colt Written By in the Group III Blue Diamond Stakes and the 3yo filly Booker in the Group III Kevin Hayes Stakes, Super Cash added one for the older generation of Written Tycoons with a short-half-head decision over the game Flamberge with Merchant Navy, looking for further than 1100m, a neck back in third. After claiming the scalp of Chautauqua last year, Super Cash looked in trouble when Craig Williams was in a zip-fastener pocket. When she found some clear air, the Andrew Noblet-trained mare stormed between runners to claim the prize.

The Group I Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) in Adelaide on May 5 is the nominated target for Super Cash.

"Bearing in mind her fresh form, I would like to go straight to the Sangster," Noblet said.

"She is a dynamite mare but I was getting frustrated when we were looking for a run there.

"Thank goodness she got it because she would have been something beat."

With her fourth stakes win, Super Cash advances her record to 6 wins, 1 second and 4 thirds from 20 starts with earnings of $796,050.

Retained to race by her breeders, Super Cash is the best of three winners from Dash for Cash mare Super Bucks, a $40,000 yearling that won three of her 12 starts, and a daughter of stakes-placed import Anemone Garden (IRE).

Super Bucks has a 2yo colt by Hussonet (USA) named Golden tycoon and a yearling filly by Written Tycoon.

Not covered in 2016, Super Bucks visited Written Tycoon again last spring.

For good reason one of the most popular stallions in the nation, Written Tycoon has 5 lots on offer at the Inglis Classic and a mammoth 47 catalogued for the Premier Yearling sale.
