Magnus Filly Enbihaar Stakes Her Claim for Blue Diamond

Mark Smith - Saturday February 10

Shadwell Farm's Magnus filly Enbihaar kept her unbeaten record intact following a professional performance in Saturday's $200,000 Group II Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Prelude (F) (1100m) at Caulfield.

In a race of many hard luck stories, Enbihaar raced on the speed for Stephen Baster and fought on resolutely in the straight to defeat Oohood by a half-length with Seabrook a neck back in third. (photos Grant Courtney).

Both second and third had little luck.

The favourite Oohood played up at the barriers and needed a vet inspection to take her place in the race. Tailing the field early, the daughter of I Am Invincible charge home in the closing stages.

The Hinchinbrook filly Seabrook was trapped on the fence with nowhere to go for the greater part of the straight and went to the line virtually untested.

Trained by David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, Enbihaar won on debut at Morphettville Parks back on January 20.

"I thought she was impressive," Ben Hayes said.

"She was dug out of the barriers and had to do a bit of work early.

"She was excellent when she went to Adelaide. We wanted her to go away and have a soft win which she did and the trip away has helped her grow up.

"We've always thought she was good enough for a race like the Blue Diamond and that's where she will go."

A $200,000 purchase by Shadwell out of the Segenhoe Stud draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Enbihaar was bred by Rob Crabtree who purchased her stakes-winning dam for Charm's Honour (Strada) for $115,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when in foal to Sebring.

Supreme Thoroughbreds, as agent for Crabtree's Dorrington Park, will consign Charm's Honour's yearling Rubick colt to the upcoming Inglis Premier Sale.

After foaling a colt by More Than Ready (USA), Charm's Honour was covered by All Too Hard last spring.

Enbihaar becomes the 16th stakes-winner for Sun Stud's  Magnus who has three lots at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and 13 heading to the Premier Yearling Sale.
