Mark Zahra took the race by the scruff of the neck on the Future History (GB). The son of Showcasing (GB) led at every call to defeat the 5-year-old Cluster gelding Promises Kept by one and a half lengths, with the 8yo Gleneagles gelding Kettle Hill a head back in third.

It was the first win for Future History (GB) since the Group III The Bart Cummings Stakes at Flemington twelve months ago. He then finished third in the Moonee Valley Gold Cup before failing in the Melbourne Cup.

"It was a good, positive ride by Mark. The team has done a good job to come back off a poor run (in The Metropolitan) to pick him up again," Maher said.

"He didn't really come up and prep before, and then he's run (third) in the Heatherlie, and (second) in the Naturalism, up to Sydney in a Group 1, and now he's winning back here, back at 2000-metres.”

With his second stakes success, Future History (GB) advances his record to seven wins, five seconds, and two thirds from 25 starts with earnings of $776,188.

A $140,000gns  purchase for Nick Bell / Peter Trainor / Hurworth from the Juddmonte Farms draft at the 2022 Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale, Future History (GB) is the best of two winners from five to race for the Mizzen Mast (USA) mare Likelihood (USA), a half-sister to Grade 1 Hollywood Derby winner Seek Again (Speightstown), Group III winner Treble Jig (Gone West) and Listed winner Scottish Jig (Speightstown).

Future History is one of 72 stakes winners for Whitsbury Manor Stud’s Showcasing, a former shuttler to New Zealand.
