Certain Rise Makes Every Post a Winner in Crockett Stakes

Mark Smith - Saturday October 26

Yulong purchased a stable full of Written Tycoon yearlings at Inglis Easter in 2023, and the majority display above-average ability. The latest is  Certain Rise, who backed up her 4-length demolition of a Mornington maiden with an all-the-way victory in Saturday's Listed Symal Crockett Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley.

Ridden by Blake Shinn for Mike Moroney and Glen Thompson, Certain Rise controlled the race from the front to defeat the Zoustar filly Zoubaby by three-quarters of a length, with the Written Tycoon filly Supercilious the same distance back in third.

"We' ve always had a high opinion of her, and she' s backed it up today," Glen Thompson said.

"Blake has done a lot of work on her. She was made to work early, but the class rose to the top.

"They're (Yulong) really big owners. They've supported us well. We' ve got quite a few for them."

"Every time we've raised the bar, she's met it. She's obviously only been beaten the one time by a pretty smart colt (Lofty Arch). We've got a really high opinion of her, and hopefully, it's onwards and upwards from here."

Like Friday night's impressive Moonee Valley winner Rich Dottie, Certain Rise was purchased at the 2023 Inglis Easter Sale. Consigned by Marquee Stud, the chestnut filly was knocked down for $400,000.

Another stakes winner for Written Tycoon (image Grant Courtney)

The daughter of Written Tycoon is the first winner from two to race for the winning Redoute's Choice mare Concubine, a three-quarter-sister to Hallucinates (dam of Listed Denise's Joy Stakes winner Alucinari), and half-sister to stakes-placegetters Knight Exemplar, Luqyaa.

Concubine is the daughter of the Group III Tatt's Winter Stakes winner Charmview (Royal Academy).

Certain Rise a $400,000 Inglis Easter yearling

Concubine's Capitalist filly failed to make her $30,000 at the 2024 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. She has a yearling Street Boss (USA) filly and foaled a Dundeel colt on September 18.

Certain Rise is the 66th stakes-winner for Yulong's Written Tycoon.
