Newgate Sires Dominate $250,000 Inglis Classic

Media Release - Thursday February 8
The field for the $250,000 Inglis Classic race this Saturday at Warwick Farm for juveniles sold at last year's Inglis Classic Yearling Sale has proven a glowing endorsement for Newgate Farm with six of the 16 runners sired by stallions standing at the progressive Hunter Valley nursery.

Foxwedge is the sire of race favourite SanctimoniousRace favourite Sanctimonious, a brilliant last start winner at Moonee Valley from the powerful Tony McEvoy stable, is by the farm's Group I sire Foxwedge as is Chamfer, who was third at his first start at Kembla last month for the Noel Mayfield-Smith stable.

Sizzling has two runners in Burbank and Gaffa, although the Chris Waller trained Star Thoroughbreds owned Burbank is likely to tackle the Listed ATC Lonhro Plate over the shorter distance of 1100 metres following two very unlucky seconds at his only starts to date.

Newgate Farm's other first season sires Eurozone and The Factor (USA) have one runner each in Eurosay and Momentum Factor.

Runners by Newgate Farm's first season sires Sizzling, Eurozone and The Factor are eligible to pick up a $100,000 bonus paid to the recorded buyer of these horses if they happen to win the race.

The same bonus is being offered at this year's sale for the next generation of exciting young sires in Deep Field, Dissident and Wandjina if their offspring can win the $2million Inglis  Millennium in 2019.

Deep Field has 39 entries for Classic (click here to see them),Dissident has 29 entries (click here to see them) and Wandjina has 20 (click here to see them), so there is ample opportunity for buyers to take a ticket in our Inglis Classic lottery!

Deep Field is a record breaking sprinter that won five of just eight starts. He is by Northern Meteor, who was the Champion Australian First Season Sire in 2013 and comes from the family of top class sires Commands and Danewin.

Deep Field was the most represented sire at Magic Millions this year and had 39 yearlings average
$219,231 with his top seller a colt from Reggae that made $675,000.

Australian Horse of the Year Dissident is by Golden Slipper winner Sebring and won a Listed MRC Blue Diamond Preview on debut at two before going on to win five Group I events up to 1600m earning over $2million in prizemoney.

Dissident had 34 yearlings sell at Magic Millions at an average price of $203,824 with his best result a colt from Prompt that made $525,000.

Wandjina was the first $1million yearling for his champion sire Snitzel and started favourite in the Listed ATC Breeders Plate, before pulling up shinsore. He blossomed at three to win the Group I VRC Australian Guineas and split Dissident and Chautauqua when finishing second in the Group I ATC All Aged Stakes.

The Magic Millions also proved successful for Wandjina with 18 yearlings averaging
$151,944 and his top seller being a colt from Heaven Has Eyes that made $360,000
