Too Darn Lizzie Captures G2 Thousand Guineas Prelude

Mark Smith - Saturday October 19

A second stakes-winner on the day at Caulfield for Too Darn Hot (GB) as Too Darn Lizzie went coast to coast in the Group II  Manhari Thousand Guineas Prelude after Too Darn Discreet captured the other 3-year-old fillies feature, the Group III Ethereal Stakes.

Ridden by Tim Clark for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Too Darn Lizzie looked to be under pressure at the 300m before finding a second wind to defeat Godolphin's Exceed And Excel filly Zeitung by two lengths with the honest Wordsmith filly Geegees Mistruth a nose back in third.

"She was too darn fast," the exuberant Gai Waterhouse said.

"Of course she's by this amazing sire, Too Darn Hot, who is doing the job in north and south. And of course it was bought by Simon Marsh and Johnny McKeever for Andrew Lloyd Webber and his wife Madeline. It's so wonderful that they're supporting Australian racing. I m just thrilled."

She's just settled down the longer she's been in Melbourne. We brought her here on Tuesday, and I just love the way she finished off her work. I didn't put a jockey on her, I just put the work rider on who gets on with her. She did everything right. I love it when they tick all the boxes going into a big race."

The One Thousand Guineas is what we're here for. I think she' s training very well. I think we could easily run over the Flemington carnival."

Too Darn Lizzie made all the running in the $500,000 Magic Millions The Debut 2yo Fillies at the Gold Coast in January.

A $1,000,000 Magic Millions purchase for McKeever Bloodstock/Watership Down/Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott from the Vinery Stud draft, Too Darn Lizzie is the second foal of Group II MRC Blue Diamond Prelude winner and Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes runner-up Enbihaar.

A daughter of Magnus, Enbihaar was carrying Too Darn Lizzie when Bahen Bloodstock had the final say at $825,000 from the Shadwell Dispersal at the 2021 Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale.

Rosemont Stud/Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA)/ and Mick Price Racing shelled out $700,000 for Enbihaar’s I Am Invincible colt offered by Kulani Park at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

After missing in 2022, Enbihaar foaled a brother to Too Darn Lizzie on August 27.

Too Darn Lizzie is the 16th stakes-winner for Darley Stud’s Too Darn Hot (GB).
