One to Watch – Cessnock

Tara Madgwick - Monday February 5
Astute Newcastle trainer Kris Lees has had a number of well-bred winners pop up at lesser tracks in recent weeks as they seek an easy victory to send them on their way to better things and this son of Pierro did more than enough to suggest he'll be winning at a lot better tracks than Cessnock.

Furore as a yearlingThree year-old gelding Furore won at Taree last month on debut and when stepped up to 1570 metres and put into Class Two company thrashed the opposition to win running away by four lengths as a red hot favourite.

A $210,000 NZB Premier purchase from the Haunui Farm draft for Australian Bloodstock/ Lees Racing, Furore is a half-brother to Hong Kong Group III winner Blizzard and is the third winner from Stormy Choice, a three-quarter-sister to Group I winner Danestorm.

Pierro is the leading Australian second crop sire by winners, prizemoney and stakes-winners, the Golden Slipper winning son of Lonhro represented by nine yearlings at Inglis Classic this week.
