Camelot's Bluestocking Wins a Seventh Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe for Juddmonte

Getting the better of the leader Los Angeles at the 200m, Bluestocking held the challenge of the Sea The Stars mare Adventure by one and a quarter length with the brave 3-year-old Camelot colt Los Angeles one and a half lengths back in third.

The winner was supplemented for a fee of €120,000 this week after connections missed the deadline for acceptances.

The Prix Vermeille proved the right form where Bluestocking defeated Adventure by th "It's a tribute to her constitution as much as anything else," said Beckett.

"It's extraordinary to have a horse to start in May and dance all those dances and then come here and do that only three weeks after what looked like a tough race in the Vermeille. She is an extraordinary beast,” Ralph Beckett enthused.

"Westover hit the front with a furlong left last year and I was kind of waiting for something else to come and get her, what a day.

"I think the draw helped. He (Ryan) got her in the right place and everything went to plan and he was able to pull it off. What a day. This is our best ever day. I’ve been lucky enough to win a couple of Oaks but this is our best day, for sure.

"The Juddmonte team are an extraordinary outfit to work for in the sense that there is no pressure, ever. You live or die by your own actions but there has never been any pressure.

Rossa Ryan was also full of praise for the Camelot fillies constitution.

"I can't really believe it, this filly has been something else in my career," Ryan said.

"I want to say a big thank you to everyone at Kimpton [Down Stables] for all their hard work as well as Barry (Mahon Juddmonte manager) and his highness for trusting me. It's a big team effort and I couldn't be here without them."

Mahon put his hand up for missing the deadline.

"It's absolutely amazing, the job that Ralph has done with this filly has been unreal. The owners were pushing and pushing to supplement so it's unbelievable. It's been a brilliant day."

OTI Racing’s Sevenna's Knight, also by Camelot, finished strongly from the tail of the field to finish fifth.

China Horse Club’s 3-year-old Churchill colt Survie finished seventh.

The winner of the Group 1 Curragh Pretty Polly Stakes in June, Bluestocking advances her record to five wins, five seconds, and a third from 13 starts.

The 4-year-old mares dam Emulous (Dansili) was a 6-time stakes winner highlighted by the Gr1 Matron Stakes. She is a full-sister to the Group III Prix Gontaut-Biron winner First Sitting and the Listed Criterium de Vitesse winner Daring Diva, the dam of the Group II Ridgewood Pearl Stakes winner Brooch (Empire Maker), whose son Mandaloun (Into Mischief) won the Kentucky Derby and Haskell Stakes.

This is the family of the 5-time stakes-winner Platinum Kingdom (Magnus).
