Revolutionary Miss Wins G2 Rose of Kingston Stakes

Tara Madgwick - Saturday October 5

A multiple Group II winner with a couple of G1 placings to her name, Russian Revolution mare Revolutionary Miss has had a change of trainer leading into a new campaign with Ciaron Maher taking over and he got an immediate result when she saluted in the Group II VRC Rose of Kingston Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on Saturday.

A close third when resuming from a spell last month, Revolutionary Miss hit top form with Mark Zahra in the saddle scoring a neck win to take her overall record to seven wins and seven placings from 28 starts for $1.7million.

“She came to us in very good order. Probably came to Victoria six weeks ago from Sydney where Joe had a handle on her and she's returned really well,” said Ciaron Maher, who is heading her towards the Group I VRC Empire Rose Stakes next month..

"100% yes. That's her goal. Arguably she's her best at a mile but she's very effective at seven furlongs. It's just very pleasing to see us get a few runs on the board for Triple Crown, new clients, and hopefully we can go on into the spring."

Mark Zahra was full of praise for Revolutionary Miss.

“She's a beauty. She's such a good ride - jumps quick, takes a spot, found a little gap and then was tough late,” he said.

"She's a jockey's dream.”

A $195,000 Magic Millions purchase for Triple Crown Syndications from the Sledmere Stud draft, Revolutionary Miss was bred by China Horse Club and is a half-sister to stakes-winner Equation from stakes-placed Onemorenomore mare Purcentage.

Purcentage has foaled this spring producing a full sister to Revolutionary Miss.
