Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Friday October 4

There were two heats for the babies run at Rosehill on Friday morning over 900m and again we saw a couple of promising youngsters by first season sires Farnan and Ole Kirk.

The colts heat was run a little quicker than the fillies with the Godolphin runner Burma Star showing the benefit of experience improving on a sixth to Tuscany at the official trials last month to win his heat over Farnan colt Farnished, who also improved on his fourth at the official trials behind King Kirk.

By now retired champion sire Exceed and Excel, Burma Star is the second foal from Group II placed juvenile winner Gongs, a daughter of stakes-winner Belcentra.

The fillies trial was won by the Michael Freedman trained Zoustar filly Had It All, who was a touch slow to begin and was allowed to find her feet by Tommy Berry. She worked into the trial nicely after turning for home and showed a nice change of gear to find the front and was then eased to the line to win by half a length over Ole Kirk filly Saveur.

A $950,000 Inglis Easter purchase, Had It All was bred and sold by Sledmere Stud and is the first living foal from stakes-winning Exceed and Excel mare Invictus Salute, a half-sister to Group II winning sprinter Splintex from the family of Group I winner Ozzmosis, who is also by Zoustar.

Invictus Salute has a yearling filly by Home Affairs and is due to foal to I Am Invincible.

Had It All sold for $950,000 at Inglis Easter to Andrew Williams Bloodstock.
