Sepoy starts 2018 on the right note

Breednet - Friday February 2
The progeny of Darley's former champion sprinter Sepoy have hit the ground running in 2018, with 18 individual winners saluting in January.

SepoyWith only three crops on the racetrack, Sepoy's figures measured up well against the country's best during a month which showcased several of Darley's Australian-based stallions.

As well as some good results in the sale ring, Exceed And Excel had a successful month on the track with 32 individual winners, two of them at Stakes level, figures that compare well to Australia's leading stallions Snitzel (33), I Am Invincible (28) and Fastnet Rock (34).

Lonhro also maintained the pace that has given him a winners-to-runners record of better than 70 percent with 21 individual winners during January.

Alizee winning the G1 Flight Stakes at Royal Randwick

Sepoy has produced 69 winners in the first six months of the current Australian season, taking his total to 133 overall. Seven of those have been at Stakes level, most notably Godolphin's G1-winning filly Alizee, who is due to resume racing this month.

Trainer James Cummings reports that Alizee is in good form and is heading towards the major three-year-old fillies races of the coming autumn.

"She is clearly one of the best in the stable and we're looking forward to seeing her pick up where she left off in the spring. She is a very exciting filly." Cummings said.

Native Solider winning at Moonee Valley

Among Sepoy's recent winners is Native Soldierwhose Moonee Valley win of 26 January suggested he is capable of better races, while his outstanding Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic runner-up Fullazabootwill be seen again during the Brisbane winter carnival.
