In the space of the last seven days Kingstar Farm’s promising young sire Time to Reign has put his name in the spotlight with two metro trial winners from four runners, plus another metro place-getter and two of these promising youngsters have been nominated for feature races at Randwick this Saturday.

Time to Reign posted two juvenile heat winners earlier today with the Darby Racing owned filly Stormy Reign saluting at the Warwick Farm trials for Bjorn Baker and Rachel King, while over in Perth at Belmont the Luke Fernie trained colt Kings Court showed abundant natural pace to win his heat by three lengths.

A $15,000 Inglis Classic purchase from Kingstar Farm for his trainer, Kings Court was bred by Kingstar and is the first foal of Written Tycoon mare Writ Large, a daughter of Inglis Classic winner Miss Independent tracing back to a very successful old Gooree Stud family noted for producing dual Group I winning filly Tempest Morn.

Writ Large has foaled again this spring producing a filly by Time to Reign, whose talented daughter Stormy Reign showed similar early speed to lead and win her heat at Warwick Farm by more than a length.

Kingstar Farm’s Adam Cook couldn’t be happier with the results this week for Time to Reign, who won the Group II ATC Silver Slipper at two and is a half-brother to Golden Slipper winning dual Group I winner She Will Reign.

“He’s had two metropolitan trial winners from just four runners and his colt Crown the King ran a close third for Gai and Adrian at the official trials at Randwick last Monday,” said Cook.

“Stormy Reign that won her trial today and Crown the King have been nominated for the Gimcrack Stakes and Breeders’ Plate this Saturday, so it’s looking very promising for Time to Reign.”

Stormy Reign was purchased by Darby Racing for a modest $10,500 through a Magic Millions Online Sale last year at the end of July and Crown the King was also bought by Darby Racing for $70,000 from the Glenbeigh Farm draft at Inglis Classic after being sold by Kingstar Farm as a weanling for $50,000.

Darby Racing are familiar with their sire as they purchased Time to Reign for $325,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions Yearling Sale in conjunction with Gary Portelli and he ran in their colours winning the Group II ATC Silver Slipper by two lengths beating Tassort, who has since emerged as a highly successful young sire.

Time to Reign has some 60 two year-olds to run for him this season and with a profile very much geared towards early speed his supporters will have plenty to keep an eye on in coming months.
