Spring Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Thursday September 5

A busy set of trials at Rosehill on Thursday morning featured two exciting three year-olds that both start with B and have very different goals this spring.

WA sprint sensation Bustling is now in the Price Kent stable and after a quiet trial third behind Estriella at Cranbourne last month he was asked to do more this morning with Chad Schofield in the saddle. He scored by more than a length over classy mare Makarena with I Am Invincible stallion I Am Unstoppable an encouraging third for new trainer Ciaron Maher.

A gelded son of Frosted (USA), Bustling has had five starts for four wins and a second from 1100 to 1400m in Perth against his own age last season at two and already has a slot for The Everest.

It’s a big leap of faith in the horse from his new owners Neil Werrett and partners and the wisdom of the move will soon be put to the test when he steps out on race day.

Godolphin’s top class Too Darn Hot (GB) colt Broadsiding won both the Group I ATC Champagne Stakes and BRC JJ Atkins last season and having campaigned well into the middle of June has residual fitness on his side. He looked super impressive steaming home for second under James McDonald to Keysborough, who set the pace.

Broadsiding holds an entry for the Cox Plate so it will be interesting to see if he follows the Anamoe path of Golden Rose, Caulfield Guineas then Cox Plate… Anamoe was second to In the Congo, then won the Caulfield Guineas and was then second to State of Rest (IRE).
