First Metropolitan Winner for Sizzling

Mark Smith - Saturday January 27

Coming off a debut win at Wagga on January 12, the Nick Olive-trained filly Sizzling Belle kept her unbeaten record intact with a fighting win in Saturday's TAB 2YO Plate (1100m) at Rosehill to credit her sire Sizzling with his first metropolitan winner.

With Kathy O'Hara in the saddle, Sizzling Belle led all the way to defeat the Hawkes Racing-trained Outrageous ($4) by a short-head with Godolphin's Osorno ($6) was a further one and a quarter lengths back in third. (photo Steve Hart ).

Olive will target the $300,000 Group III Black Opal Stakes on March 11, with the daughter of Sizzling. It's a race Olive came close to winning with his stable star Single Gaze who was second to future Group 1 winner Takedown in 2015.

The trainer said he would give Sizzling Belle a short freshen-up.

"I was planning on giving her a week in the paddock and then going to the Preview before the Black Opal but she might get too much weight in the Preview now," Olive said.

"So, I'll give her a few days off and probably head straight to the Black Opal and then see what happens.

"She's paid up for the Slipper but that might be a bit steep for her though."

A $50,000 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale purchase for her trainer from the Element Hill draft, Sizzling Belle is the third winner from stakes-placed Magic Albert mare Greenmount Belle.

The Newgate Farm based Sizzling has 15 lots entered for the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
