Sun to Shine

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 14

Fillies by The Autumn Sun proved a revelation last season claiming three Group I classic victories and while the horse himself is sidelined from stud duties this spring due to injury a couple of his daughters are making news today.

Earlier this year US investor John Stewart purchased Group I placed The Autumn Sun filly Tutta La Vita for $3.2million at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale and she was taken from her previous trainer Chris Waller and sent to North America where her return to racing has kicked up another notch.

For Waller, who also trained The Autumn Sun to Champion 3YO honours in 2018/2019, he has another exciting filly by the sire and she is slated to make her debut at Randwick today in an 1150m maiden with James McDonald to ride.

Autumn Glow is no stranger to the spotlight having topped the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale in 2023 at $1.8million.

Autumn Glow topped the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when sold by Silverdale Farm for $1.8million to Arrowfield Pastoral / Hermitage Thoroughbreds and she is the highest priced yearling to date for her sire.

A three-quarter sister to Group I ATC Golden Rose winner In The Congo from triple Group I winning South African sprinter Via Africa (SAfr), Autumn Glow has shaped well in her three previous barrier trials the most recent a win on August 6.

The Autumn Sun would undoubtedly have been popular this spring at Arrowfield Stud off the back of his late season classic success, but this time last year the jury was out and he covered just 101 mares last spring, which was his smallest book of mares in five seasons at stud.
