Little Fish are Sweet – Star Colts for Highline

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 17
In the big ocean of opportunity that is Book One of the NZB National Yearling Sale Series it can be tough for a smaller vendor to stand out, but with two stunning colts to present, Eva and Cam Heron are poised to make a splash at Karaka.

Eva and Cam Heron are Highline Thoroughbreds, a boutique breeding operation based in the Waikato focused on providing mares, foals and yearlings with the very best in care, so they can go on to be their best!!

"It's all about handling, education and diet," said Eva Heron, who has a background in eventing, that has ultimately led her to raising thoroughbreds with her husband Cam, who has traded flying helicopters for the farming lifestyle he grew up with.

"We take a hands on approach to ensure nothing is missed and a quality job is done.

"We're both very passionate about this industry and enjoy meeting the many characters and personalities you come across at sales time."

Highline Thoroughbreds will offer two colts that are available for inspection at Karaka from next Wednesday January 24 in Barn D, 106 and 107.

They will not have long to wait for the first to go into the ring with the Proisir colt from Amiga Mia to be offered as Lot 23.

"He's the first yearling of the sale for exciting first crop sire Proisir, an Australian bred Group I performed son of Choisir," said Eva Heron.

"He has an intriguing double cross of champion sires Encosta de Lago and Danehill, which has produced a strong correct type.

"We liked what we saw so much with this colt that we have sent Amiga Mia back to Proisir."

Already the dam of a winner, Amiga Mia is from a half-sister to Australian Group III winner Saint Minerva from the family of Group I winner Rhythmic Charm.

Melbourne Cup hero and proven Group I stallion Shocking is the sire of the second colt from Highline Thoroughbreds to be offered as Lot 433.

"A beautiful type and very correct, he is the second foal of unraced Nightingale Island, a half-sister by Viking Ruler to Singapore's Horse of the Year 2018, Champion Miler and Champion 4 year old Infantry," said Eva Heron.

Like the previous colt, he also has a double cross of two champion sires in Danehill and Sir Tristram (IRE).

Shocking is the sire of 10 winners from mares carrying Danehill blood including his current stakes-winner Formidable, recently sold to further his career in Hong Kong.
