Three to Follow from the Werribee Jumpouts

Darryl Sherer - Tuesday January 16

A busy morning of jumpouts for Flemington-trained horses at Werribee with two-year-olds standing out ahead of the rich autumn races.

Four of the 13 heats were for two-year-olds and two of them won by Peter and Paul Snowden with Pure Elation and Invincible Lad.

We highlighted Declarationofheart two weeks ago and the Anthony Freedman-trained two-year-old scored on debut at Geelong last week and Racenet has highlighted three two-year-olds it may pay punters to follow in coming weeks.

PURE ELATION (2f I Am Invincible x Members Joy)Pure Elation was a $320,000 Inglis Premier purchase
Broke on terms from the inside in heat six and quickly clear, travelling easily under Michael Walker. Went further clear 200m out and through the line on the bridle and looking full of running, three lengths clear in 50.02 seconds. Al Naifa was blinkered and was second off the turn, not ridden along and through the line second a half length in front of the Anthony Freedman-trained Messerschmitt, which came from last at halfway to finish strongly. Pure Elation a filly by I Am Invincible out of Members Joy, trained by Peter and Paul Snowden and looks a natural two-year-old. This looks a heat to follow, the Lindsay Park Racing trained Ben Hercules, through the line fourth, beaten but unhurried and looking capable of more in his second jumpout.
Career (Unraced)

INVINCIBLE LAD (2c I Am Invincible x Magdalena)
Settled second on the outside of Lake District Girl and racing three wide underMark Zahra in heat nine. Eased clear under no riding 100m out and through the line one length clear of the Tony McEvoy-trained Lake District Girl in 50.80 seconds. The McEvoy-trained Oohood closed late for third, beaten three lengths and under no pressure. A colt by I Am Invincible, Invincible Lad led the Breeders' Plate field to the turn on debut, Lake District Girl a filly by Not A Single Doubt which has finished second in her two previous barrier trials. Oohood runner-up to Long Leaf in the Listed Merson Cooper Stakes on debut and looks a stronger filly now.

ROOBEENA (2f Exceed and Excel x Sayuri San)
Settled second last and towards the inside in heat 12 as the Hawkes Racing-trained unnamed reward For Effort colt led. Came through under own steam around the turn to share the lead with the Lindsay Park Racing-trained A Beautiful Storm. Not hard pressed to defeat the Lindsay Park Racing-trained Cheeky Cat by a neck in 51.90 seconds with A Beautiful Storm the same distance away third. The Maribyrnong Plate winner Run Naan finished fifth after racing wide and out of trouble, beaten four lengths but under a hold all the way. Roobeena finished runner-up to Setsuna in the Group III Ottawa Stakes at Flemington in the spring, Cheeky Cat an unraced well-grown gelding by Redente.
