Impending 3YO Wins Listed Aquanita Stakes

Tara Madgwick - Saturday July 6

Relocated to Larneuk Stud this spring, Lonhro’s dual Group I winning son Impending sired a new stakes-winner on Saturday when progressive three year-old Cool Memory led all the way to win the Listed WATC Aquanita Stakes (2000m) at Belmont.

Trained by Darren McAuliffe, Cool Memory had a frustrating run of minor placings leading into his first attempt at a staying trip and he emerged with flying colours.

Well rated in front by  Joseph Azzopard, Cool Memory broke up the field turning for home and had enough left at the finish to win by a length.

Cool Memory is a homebred for Impressive Racing and has the overall record of three wins and six placings from 15 starts with prizemoney topping $216,000.

Cool Memory is a half-brother to stakes-placed Cold Shizzle and is the best of three winners from stakes-placed Universal Ruler mare Fo’ Shizzle.

Cool Memory is the second stakes-winner for Impending and first in Australia with his other stakes-winner the Kiwi trained Group winner Impendabelle.

Impending has been churning out the winners this season with 66 putting him in third place on the third season sires by winners list behind only Hunter Valley based sires Russian Revolution and Hellbent.

Impending has a new home at Larneuk Stud, click for more info and a Hypo mating.

Impending stands at Larneuk Stud at a fee of $6,600 this spring.
