Sidestep Filly Wins by Five

Tara Madgwick - Friday July 5

A few weeks ago we made mention of the promising trial performance from Winx’s two year-old three-quarter sister Wings of Desire, who surged home for second in a heat at Randwick won by three year-old filly Are Ee Que, who franked that form when bolting in at Goulburn on Friday.

Trained by Ron Quinton, who also bred and co-owns the daughter of Sidestep, Are Eee Que was fit and ready to fire with that trial under her belt and skipped clear to win the 1000m dash by four lengths at her fifth start.

Are Ee Que is the second winner from metro winning Dubawi mare Skein, a half-sister to multiple Hong Kong Group winner Champions Way.

Skein has been a regular visitor to the Telemon Thoroughbreds sires and has two more fillies to follow by Golden Slipper producing sire Sidestep and then had a filly last spring by Jungle Cat (GB) and was then covered by him again.

Sidstep has sired 50 Australian winners this season and they include a couple of stakes-placed three year-olds in Party for Two and Razors, who was second in the Group II BRC Queensland Guineas.

A fast Group winning son of champion sire Exceed and Excel, Sidestep stands at Telemon Thoroughbreds a fee of $8,800 this spring.

Footnote: Wings of Desire remains in work with Michael Freedman and is entered for another trial next week.
