Microphone Short Priced Favourite Salutes

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 26

Placed in both the Group II MRC Blue Diamond Prelude and Group III MRC Blue Diamond Preview behind the mighty Hayasugi, Microphone filly Matisse always looked a good thing in a midweek maiden at Doomben.

The Anthony and Sam Freedman trained filly had not been sighted since finishing out of the placings in the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes and punters rallied to send her to the post as a red hot favourite for the 1110m scamper.

Ridden quietly by Blake Shinn, she took a while to hit top gear, but surged at the finish to win by half a length running away doing her best work on the line.

A homebred for Murray Thoroughbreds, Matisse will no doubt have spring stakes goals on the agenda when she returns to Melbourne after her working winter holiday.

She is the first winner for stakes-placed Not a Single Doubt mare Sanadaat, a grand-daughter of stakes-winner Unison, who traces back to celebrated blue hen Summoned via Zeditave’s Group III winning full sister Zedagal.

Murray Thoroughbreds on-sold Sanadaat last year at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale to Ulandra Bloodstock for $26,000.

Microphone

Matisse is the second winner for Microphone, who stands at Darley NSW at a fee of $22,000.
