Debut Winner Delights Lady Owners

Tara Madgwick - Saturday June 22

A $250,000 Magic Millions purchase from Newgate Farm for the Michael Freedman Racing Ladies Syndicate, two year-old Deep Field filly Cindersea provided the perfect result for her all lady ownership group when saluting at Newcastle on Saturday.

Trained by Michael Freedman, Cindersea showed nice promise when placed in two recent barrier trials and took that form to race day, finishing off well from off the pace to take the 900m juvenile maiden by the best part of a length.

Cindersea has been handled patiently and looks a nice filly going forward for her lucky owners that include 7 Horse Racing’s Emma Freedman and Katelyn McDonald.

Cindersea was a $250,000 MM purchase from Newgate Farm.

She is the first foal of Group III winning Beneteau mare Ocean Embers, a half-sister to Japanese Group III winner Fireflaught.

Ocean Embers had a filly last spring by Home Affairs and is in foal to Cox Plate winner State of Rest (IRE).
