Winning Debut for Enable Half-Sister

Tara Madgwick - Thursday June 13

Outstanding mare Enable dominated European racing from 2017 to 2020 winning 15 races – 11 of them Group I - and was twice crowned Horse of the Year, so the debut of her three year-old half-sister at Kempton overnight was the subject of keen interest.

Trained by John and Thady Gosden, the Juddmonte homebred filly Zilfee was not favourite in a competitive field of 13 runners for the 1m3f maiden, but was strong when it counted to score a narrow debut victory.

By champion sire Sea the Stars, Zilfee keeps the perfect record for her stakes-winning dam Concentic, who has now had eight foals to race and all are winners and in addition to Enable, she has also produced three Black Type place-getters including Derab, who is a full sibling to Zilfee.

Concentric has a two-year-old brother to Enable, called Concert Tour, a yearling colt by Dubawi and a filly foal by the same sire too.

Enable was retired at the end of 2020 and her first foal is two year-old Kingman colt Encompass, who is registered in training with the Gosdens.
