New Stakes-Winner for Too Darn Hot

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 10

Darley shuttler Too Darn Hot (GB) goes from strength to strength with new stakes-winner Lava Stream in the UK overnight bringing his global tally of stakes-winners to nine with nearly 7% SW to runner.

A homebred filly for Elwick Stud rained by David O’Meara, Lava Stream won her final start last year at two and has won at both outings this year and taking a big step forward with her first Black Type win in the Listed Keyser Stakes (1m2f) at Goodwood.

Lava Stream charged home from last to score a well timed neck win for Daniel Tudhope taking her overall record to three wins from six starts.

Lava Song is the second winner from Stream Song, a winning half-sister by Mastercraftsman to Group I winner Journey, Group II winners Mimikyu and Indigo Girl. Her second dam Montare is a Group I winner by Montjeu up to 3100m so longer trips shouldn’t be a problem for Lava Stream.

The first winner for Stream Song is promising stayer Iron Lion, a progressive four year-old by Roaring Lion that won a big handicap staying event at Haydock on Saturday with connections announcing a possible tilt at the Ebor Handicap and maybe even a Melbourne Cup.

Too Darn Hot is back in Australia for Darley this spring at the increased fee of $110,000 and is on track to be Champion Australian First Season Sire by earnings and winners.
