Another Promising Two-Year-Old for Too Darn Hot

Mark Smith - Wednesday June 5

The winners continue to flow for Champion First-Season Sire elect Too Darn Hot (GB) as Tartaglia broke through at start four in the $100,000 Drinkwise 2-3yo Maiden Plate (1100m) at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Ridden by Zac Lloyd for James Cummings, the Godolphin homebred was back worse than midfield early. Saving ground around the home turn,  Tartaglia threaded the needle between Te Pani and Plaza to defeat the 3-year-old Zoustar filly Khaznah by three-quarters of a length with the 2-year-old Zoustar filly Silver Wedding the same distance back in third.

Assistant trainer Darren Beadman said the progeny of Too Darn Hot (GB) are flying.

“The Too Darn Hots are in scintillating form,” assistant trainer Darren Beadman said.

uo;Broadsiding winning on Saturday and this little fella winning today, he stamps his progeny.

“Broadsiding is not an overly big horse, but they are mentally tough, and when the chips are down, they fight.”

Tartaglia is the fourth winner from six to race for Lonhro’s Listed STC Festival Stakes and Listed Scone Cup winner Dysphonia, who closed out her career with a third behind Hurtle Myrtle in the Group 1 VRC Myer Classic.

Dysphonia began her broodmare career in Europe, producing the Tartaglia’s three-quarter sister, the Group III Newmarket Nell Gwyn Stakes winner Soliloquay (Dubawi), who was fourth in the Group 1 Irish One Thousand Guineas.

Dysphonia has a yearling sister to Tartaglia named Logue and a weanling colt by Palace Pier (GB). She was covered by Astern last spring.

Tartaglia is the tenth Australian 2-year-old winner of the season for Too Darn Hot (GB).
