Segenhoe MM Stars Ready to Shine - Part One

Segenhoe Stud under the ownership of Kevin Maloney and stewardship of Peter O'Brien has been selling at Magic Millions since 2014 and having sold Magic Millions 2YO Classic place-getters Nikitas (second in 2016) and Madeenaty (third in 2017) there is an air of expectation that their draft is overdue to produce the winner.

Group I winner Merchant Navy was sold by Segenhoe Stud"We always try to bring some nice two year-old types to the Gold Coast and that is reflected in our success," said Peter O'Brien.

"We sold Witherspoon last year and she's been stakes-placed at her last two starts, so will take her place in the big race and we wish her connections the very best of luck."

Two year-olds aside, Segenhoe have built up an impressive list of stakes graduates in the past three years headed by outstanding colt Merchant Navy, winner of the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes in the spring and Eagle Way, winner of the Group I BRC Queensland Derby in 2016.

Other notable Segenhoe graduates include South African based Ektifaa, El Divino, Taking Aim and All Too Hard's smart stakes-winner Curdled, who is running in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.

"We are also looking forward to the autumn with So You Think filly Impulsive, who Chris Waller believes could be a Group 1 filly in the making," O'Brien added.

Segenhoe Stud will present 19 yearlings at Magic Millions 2018 with a selection of highlights below with comments from Peter O'Brien:

Lot 70 Filly Sebring x Martilago, by Encosta de Lago



Strong, precocious filly with a terrific action from a wonderful family and the cross with Encosta De Lago x Sebring being exceptional and producing Group winners Seaburge, Catch a Fire; Believe Yourself and Clifton Red.

Lot 129 Colt Snitzel x New Light, by Galileo



Powerful two year old type from a terrific family and of course the Danehill x Galileo cross which has had prolific success producing 132 stakes-winners, 27 of them Group I winners.

Lot 160 Colt Rubick x Our Songbird, by Fastnet Rock



Magnificent colt. If he's anything to go by then Rubick is in for a stellar career from a good speed family and his mother had great ability according to her trainer.

Lot 215 Colt Fastnet Rock x Radharcnafarraige (IRE), by Distorted Humor



If ever a colt had the pedigree for the MM sale it is this horse out of a Group III winning mare and he is as good mover as I have ever seen.

Lot 282 Filly I Am Invincible x Sensibility, by Redoute's Choice



By I Am Invincible out of a Group I placed mare from one of the best international pedigrees around. She's all quality with good balance and is inbred 3x4 to Canny Lad which is a cross on fire and is carried by I Am Invincible's Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Houtzen.
