Lazzago Set to Star on Inglis Digital

Media Release - Tuesday June 4

The G2-winning 2YO Lazzago (Capitalist) headlines a host of appealing race fillies and mares already confirmed for next week’s Inglis Digital June (Early) Online Sale.

The Chris Waller-trained Lazzago, a $460,000 Inglis Easter yearling, was one of the standout 2YOs of her generation.

She debuted with a strong Sydney Metropolitan victory, defeating subsequent G2 placed 2YO Snapback, before being beaten just 1.4 lengths in the $2m Inglis Millennium at her second race start behind G1 filly Learning To Fly.

She then stepped up to G2 company and recorded a dominant victory in key Golden Slipper lead-up the Sweet Embrace Stakes before training on at three to finish second to exciting filly Estriella at G3 level.

Over the course of her two seasons of racing, Lazzago defeated the likes of Zardozi, Platinum Jubilee, Skirt The Law, Ulanova, Kristilli,  Arkansaw Kid, Facile, Saltaire, Blanc de Blanc, Summer Loving etc.

Lazzago is out of a half sister to Stakes winner Taameer, who is in turn the dam of Stakes-winning 2YOs Khulaasa and Bulbula, the latter the dam of high-class pair Doull and Aryaaf.

A half brother to Lazzago, by Zoustar, was purchased as a yearling for $800,000 by Tom Magnier earlier this year, while her dam was covered by Zoustar last Spring.

She will be offered by Woppitt Bloodstock as a racing and breeding prospect in the Inglis Digital June (Early) Sale.

Woppitt’s Debbie Kepitis described Lazzago as “a wonderful race filly with so much ability’’.

“She was a gorgeous yearling firstly and impressed Chris right from the early days,” Kepitis said.

“It was fantastic for her to win on debut pre-Christmas and then her Inglis Millennium performance and of course her G2 Sweet Embrace Stakes victory at just her third career start.

“She had some excellent form as a 3YO and has a pedigree with a lot more to give.

“The beauty of Inglis Digital is the timeliness of it. It’s brilliant that we can offer these high class fillies and mares whenever we want to, right in time for the breeding season in this instance. In the earlier days we were stuck with certain timings, but now with the Inglis Digital platform, they’re noticed immediately all over the world.’’

Lazzago is one of several quality fillies and mares already confirmed for the June (Early) Sale including:

*Swift Sweet – G3 placed behind dual G1 winner and $3.4m broodmare She’s Extreme in the G3 Magic Night Stakes as a 2YO, this well-bred Snitzel mare is from the family of Hitotsu, Lean Mean Machine, She’s Meaner, Love Conquers All etc

*Perfect Gem – Winning daughter of champion Calveen being offered in foal to in-demand young stallion Too Darn Hot

*Langmore – A half sister to G1 winner and $2m broodmare Ruthless Dame

*Dalchini – Multiple G3 placed filly with a Danehill-free pedigree, placed in the G3 Nivison behind multiple G1 winner Magic Time and the G3 Hawkesbury Crown behind G1 mare Princess Grace

Inglis Digital’s Business Manager Nick Melmeth said the quality entries were testament to the ongoing success and reputation of the platform.

“Lazzago is a hugely appealing offering – she would have been amongst the standout lots at the Chairman’s Sale had she been offered there,’’ Melmeth said.

“[Inglis Bloodstock CEO] Sebastian [Hutch] inspected her at the weekend and said that she is a beauty, so it is very exciting for us to have the opportunity to offer a filly with a profile such as hers.

“The likes of Swift Sweet, Perfect Gem, Langmore and Dalchini all provide fantastic opportunities for breeders to invest in quality, young breeding stock in advance of the breeding season.

“The June (Early) Sale is shaping as another incredibly strong catalogue and we have some more major entries to announce in the next 24 hours which will further ensure attention on the catalogue will be intense.’’

Entries for the Inglis Digital June (Early) Sale close at midnight tonight (Wednesday).

As has been the case the past three sales, the catalogue is shaping as another large one so sellers are encouraged to submit their entries as soon as possible to ensure their place in the sale.

The sale will operate from this coming Friday (June 7) until the following Wednesday, June 12.
