This Capitalist colt made a procession out of the 1100m maiden at Bendigo on Tuesday winning by five and a half lengths on debut.

Trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr, Reserve Bank was taking on three year-olds for his first start, but was well supported by punters to start favourite and coasted home an impressive winner for Luke Currie.

Barrier issues have delayed the debut of Reserve Bank, who put his best foot forward on race day with Luke Currie full of praise.

“He jumped really well and put himself outside the leader, but it was under pressure at the top of the straight so he took over a long way from home and even though he had a bit of a wander around, he did it fairly easy,” Currie said.

“I didn’t have to pick the stick up on him, but I imagine if I did he would have extended away even further, so he’s had a good experience today.”

Reserve Bank was a $410,000 Inglis Premier purchase from Segenhoe.

Bred by Segenhoe, he is the second winner from Our Songbird, a metro winning half-sister by Fastnet Rock to stakes-winners Debonairly and Corsaire

Segenhoe sold a yearling colt by Too Darn Hot (GB) from Our Songbird at Inglis Easter this year to Katsumi Yoshida for $280,000 and she has a colt to follow by Pinatubo (IRE).

Reserve Bank is the tenth two year-old winner this season for Capitalist and three are stakes-winners in Holmes a Court, Aardvark and Castanya.
