Tattersalls Yearling Purchase La Fracas Excites on Debut

Mark Smith - Thursday May 23

Mick Price has been active at sales worldwide in recent years, and the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale purchase La Fracas (IRE) made an exciting debut in the Elite Sportz Maiden Plate (1200m) at Pakenham on Thursday.

Ridden by Jordan Childs for Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr, the 3-year-old son of Night Of Thunder travelled on the speed, eased out to the fast lane in the straight to win by a widening two lengths from the Merchant Navy colt Buzz City with the Impending gelding Zemgrinda a length and a quarter back in third.

“It was an effortless watch; he idled up the straight and put it away nicely,” stable representative Tom Sheahan said.

“He is a lovely colt purchased out of the Tattersalls yearling sale, so he is six months behind everyone else.

“He is raw-framed with a lovely masculine head with the ability to match.

‘1200m is on the short side of where he will end up. He will step through his grades.”

La Fracas a 170,000gns Tattersalls October yearling

Consigned by Ballylinch Stud to the 2022 October Yearling Sale Book 1, La Fracas (IRE) was knocked down to John Foote Bloodstock /Mick Price Bloodstock for 170,000 guineas.

A half-brother to the stakes-placed Jubilation (Acclamation), La Francas (IRE) is the third winner from as many to race for the lightly raced Fastnet Rock mare Fairy Dancer, a half-sister to four stakes-winners led by Breeders’ Cup Turf and Man O' War Stakes winner Red Rocks (Galileo).
