Stakes Double for Go Bloodstock

Tara Madgwick - Sunday May 12

The yellow and white silks of Go Bloodstock were carried by two stakes-winners at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday with Thalassophile striking early in the day to win the Listed Silk Stocking and then later in the day three year-old filly Amazonian Lass got back in the winning groove when taking out the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m)

Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Amazonian Lass won the Group II VRC Wakeful Stakes last spring and was fourth in the Group I VRC Oaks and then missed the autumn before resuming with a first up second in the Listed BRC Princess stakes at Eagle Farm last month.

The More Than Ready (USA) filly  relished the heavy track to score a commanding win over Kiwi Group I winner Molly Bloom with Adam Hyeronimus.

“We had plans to go through Sydney and things just didn't quite come up as well as we'd hoped so we just had to take a backward step and set her for the carnival here. She's really enjoyed the conditions up here, she's thrived and I think there's still further improvement as she gets over further,” said Adrian Bott, who is planning to go to the Doomben Roses and then the Group I Queensland Oaks next month.

“She's a lovely big filly. There's plenty of size and strength to her. We knew she would sustain a nice campaign. Just having had that grounding in the spring that really helped bring her along and seasoned her up for what's hopefully going to be another successful campaign up here."

Amazonian Lass has the overall record of three wins and two placings from 10 starts with prizemoney of $425,000.

Amazonian Lass was a $325,000 Magic Millions purchase.

A $325,000 purchase for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott/Kestrel Thoroughbreds from the Segenhoe Stud draft at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Amazonian Lass races for a syndicate that includes her breeder Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock.

She is the second winner from as many foals for the Warwick Farm-winning Fastnet Rock mare Dynastic Lady, a full sister to Group I WRC Levin Classic winner Age Of Fire and stakes-placed Sacred Valley. Her grand-dam is by Galileo and the extended European female family is packed with Black Type including Group I winners Fly to the Stars and Fallen for You.

Dynastic Lady has a yearling colt by Lonhro and produced a colt by Captivant last spring, but unfortunately passed away not long after he was born.
