Bustling a Class Above in WA Sires Produce Stakes

Mark Smith - Saturday May 4

Twelve months after Super Smink captured the Karrakatta Plate - WA Sires Produce Stakes double with Super Smink, trainer Daniel Morton achieved the feat again with the top-class Frosted (USA) colt Bustling.

Little more than a track gallop for Bustling (Image Western Racepix)

Ridden by Brad Parnham, Bustling was under little more than hand ride to defeat the Leonardo Da Hinchi filly Golden Kathleen by two and a half lengths with Sizzling gelding Big Shots back in third.

Bustling advances his record to four wins and a second from five starts with earnings of $577,220. He arguably should be unbeaten as he had little luck when caught wide the trip when second behind subsequent Group III Gimcrack Stakes winner Siren Assault (Rich Enuff) over 1100m at Ascot on March 16.

“That was an easy win in a feature race, and I probably won’t get too many like that,” Brad Parnham said.

“It was good to see him come out and get the job done.

“I was talking to Blake Shinn at Warrnambool on Thursday and he said to treat it like a track gallop and get rolling from the 600m and he should do the rest.

“I would have been happy to lead but Paul Jordan’s horse (Battle Commander) was going quick enough, so I sat off him. Once we got to the 600m I wanted to ensure I was cruising along comfortably and he did the job on his own from there.”

A homebred for Oaklands Park Stud, Bustling is the best of three winners from as many to race for the stakes-placed Key Business mare Busimiss, who was sold on Inglis Digital last year for $15,000.

After foaling a filly by Sessions last spring, Busimiss revisited the son of Lonhro
