Millions Runner for Mark Newnham

A big baldy faced chestnut son of Not a Single Doubt, the Mark Newnham trained two year-old Quackerjack put himself into the Magic Millions pictured with a fast finishing win over slick filly Secret Lady at Randwick on Saturday.



A winner at the early season trials, Quackerjack disappointed when finishing last in the Listed ATC Breeders Plate behind Performer, but has more than made amends since then.

He won easily at Kembla on December 16 and then handled the step up in grade to metropolitan company, charging home from off the pace for Koby Jennings to win the 1100 metre dash by half a length.

"He's always shown good natural talent, but nothing went right for him in the Breeders Plate," said Mark Newnham.

"This preparation it's been all about building his confidence and he really brought his A game to town today.

"He needed every bit of the 11000 metres and I think he will be very well suited at the 1200 metres (MM 2YO Classic, January 13).

"He has natural talent and a good constitution, all the ingredients to make a good two year-old."

Quackerjack returns to scaleQuackerjack (images Steve Hart) was a $240,000 Magic Millions purchase for his trainer from the Rosari Farm draft and runs for a big group of stable clients.

With prizemoney of $98,130, he is assured of a start in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on January 13 and is listed at $15 by bookmakers.

Quackerjack is the second winner for Quack It (NZ), a half-sister to stakes-winners Anatina and Pricked from the very speedy Mother Duck family that has also produced slick stakes-winners such as Ladys Angel, Alberto Magic and Oxford Poet.

Rosari Farm has three entries for the 2018 Magic Millions including the half-sister by I Am Invincible to Quackerjack to be offered as Lot 206.
