Exciting New Addition and 2024 Fees for Blue Gum Farm

Tara Madgwick - Friday April 26

Blue Gum Farm are delighted to welcome a new addition to their stallion roster for 2024 with brilliantly fast Exceed and Excel sprinter Oxley Road to join Sejardan and Flying Artie.

A full brother to Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Exceedance, who has made a great start to his own stud career, Oxley Road was trained by Peter Moody and scored career defining wins in the Group II MRC Caulfield Sprint (1000m) and Group III MRC Zeditave Stakes (1200m).

He was also a game third in the Group I MRC Oakleigh Plate behind star mares Marabi and Away Game

“He’s as fast a colt as I’ve trained in my career, he’s up there with the likes of Magnus and Hinchinbrook,” said Peter Moody.

“For brute speed, I haven’t trained many quicker. He’s always had brilliant and unbelievable speed. There were very few horses that could match with him from the gates for 600 or 800 metres if you really just let him run, he just had unbelievable speed as that’s a big positive as it works in Australia, we’ve seen it time and time again.”

Oxley Road also has pedigree being by champion sire Exceed and Excel from stakes-winning blue hen Bonnie Mac, who only had four foals, but all of them won and three of them are stakes-winners with Mac’n’ Cheese adding her name to Exceedance and Oxley Road

“We’re trying to build a farm based around stallions with colonial speed and Oxley Road fits the tried and tested profile that has proven so successful,” said Blue Gum Farm’s Sean Dingwall.

“He’s a big, strong, horse with plenty of scope and we think he’s definitely got a part to play on the back of the success of his full brother Exceedance.”

Exceedance has sired four winners from 14 starters headed by dual Group III winning colt Dublin Down, who was good enough to earn his place in the Golden Slipper.

Oxley Road will stand at a fee of $8,800 inc. GST alongside Sejardan and Flying Artie, who remain at the same fees as last year.
