Stakes Double for Zoustar

Tara Madgwick - Saturday March 30

Widden Stud’s champion sire Zoustar is in overdrive as we head through the autumn and sired six winners on Saturday including a stakes double with quality mare Olentia winning the Group II ATC Emancipation Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill followed later in the day by Celsius Star, who claimed his first Black Type win in the $140,000 Listed Harcourts Hills Railway Stakes (1100m) at Oakbank in South Australia.

Trained by Phillip Stokes and ridden by Lachlan Neindorf, Celsius star was sent out favourite for the feature sprint following wins at Gawler and Morphettville followed by a last start third in a Listed race on Adelaide Cup Day.

He delivered for punters when charging through a gap with a well timed run to snatch a half length win.

Bred by Tara Farm and retained to race after passing in twice as a yearling, Celsius Star was foaled and raised at Grenville Stud and has the overall record of eight wins and six placings from 23 starts with prizemoney in excess of $324,000.

He is the best of two winners from Celsius, a half-sister by Commands to Group I ATC Golden Slipper Stakes winner Kiamichi and three-quarter sister to stakes-winner Cossetot from the family of Group I winners Denman and Preserve.

Celsius Star is the 52nd stakes-winner for Zoustar and is his 14th in Australia this season.
