Taking Aim Sold to Hong Kong

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday November 28
Powerful syndicates geared to purchasing expensive yearling colts as sire prospects of the future can often salvage something worthwhile from the wreckage through a sale to Hong Kong.

Taking aim as a yearlingA Group III winner last season at two and third in the Group I BRC JJ Atkins Stakes, Choisir colt Taking Aim has joined the John Moore stable in Hong Kong.

Formerly trained by Peter and Paul Snowden for a syndicate comprising Newgate Farm, Aquis Farm, China Horse Club, Horse Ventures and WinStar Farm, Taking Aim arrived in the Asian racing centre as one of eight gallopers aboard the latest shipment.

A $520,000 Inglis Australian Easter yearling purchase, Taking Aim won $244,800 in nine starts in Australia finishing fourth in the Group II VRC Danehill Stakes at his final appearance behind star filly Catchy.

Also in the same shipment into Hong Kong was another expensive Choisir colt in Faeger, who was a $560,000 Inglis Easter purchase for James Harron Bloodstock.

He was also trained by the Snowden's and won one race from six starts placing a further three times, but never ventured out of maiden class.

Other high profile horses that exited to Hong Kong this year include Derby winners Ruthven and Volatile Mix and Group III winner Acatour.
