Pinhook winners from the NZ Ready To Run Sale

Breednet - Monday November 27

The NZB Ready To Race Sale of 2YOs is always one targeted strongly by the pinhookers and there were plenty of winners at last week's 2017 edition of the sale.

There were 118 lots which had been bought previously at a yearling sale, a further 30 that had been bought at weanling sales and eight lots that had changed hands as both a weanling and yearling.

Alamosa x PrioriteThe biggest result was Lot 106, a colt by Hinchinbrook from El Ashb which had been knocked down to Horse Feng Bloodstock Ltd for $65,000 from the Bowness Stud draft at the Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale, before being offered at the Ready To Race Sale in the Regal Farm draft, selling for $460,000 to Sweetbriar Equine.

That's a profit of about $350,000 on the Aus/NZ exchange rate.

Two Tavistock colts were the next most successful – Tavistock x Indian Song making a $297,500 profit when selling to Mr Me Tsui from the Anzac Lodge draft after making $77,500 at the NZB Select Yearling Sale.

And the Tavistock x Tristraad colt returning $280,000 profit to the bid of Mr P Ho from the Diamond Lodge draft after selling for $90,000 at the NZB Premier Yearling Sale.

The most successful weanling pinhook was Lot 299, a colt by Alamosa from Priorite which sold for just $11,000 at the NZB National Weanling Sale before making $240,000 to the bid of Dungowan Farm at the Ready To Race Sale from the Charma Heights draft.

Another notable was the Star Witness x Spooked colt which has been the gift that keeps giving, having sold for $38,000 at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, before making $120,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, then being knocked down for $250,000 at the Ready To Race Sale from the Riversley Park draft.
