The five-part documentary series, produced by Jo McKinnon, captures the essence of remote and iconic horse racing in Australia.

It features Thoroughbred race meetings at Birdsville in Outback Queensland, Darwin in the Northern Territory, Warrnambool in Victoria, Kangaroo Island in South Australia and King Island in Tasmania.
It is the first Australian production to ever win a Winnie Award at the EQUUS Film Festival that began five years ago.
EQUUS Film Festival Director Lisa Diersen, who also sits on the judging panel, said; "We just loved this series and enjoyed it so much. We hope to see plenty more of it in the future."
A Racetrack Somewhere Executive Producer Jo McKinnon said: "It is such an honour to have the series showcased at such a unique and well regraded equine focussed film festival and it's so exciting to have it screened alongside some brilliant content from all over the world."
"To win the Winnie Award is such a thrill and a huge endorsement of the series from an audience that has always been so fascinated by Australiana," McKinnon said.
"The whole reason behind the concept of the show was to promote the authentic side of Australian horse racing and its people and to now see international audiences and other respected filmmakers embrace it and enjoy it means so much."
A Racetrack Somewhere has been broadcast on Australia's iconic airline QANTAS and Air New Zealand (domestic and international) inflight TV, and racing.com. It is also currently being distributed globally on DVD. Planning for a second series is now underway.
