Kiwi Family Making Black Type Impact

Media Release - Wednesday November 22
Angel In Bluejeans is boosting her value at home while another member of the family is doing her favours overseas.

The Cambridge mare is out of the Gr.3 Cuddle Stakes (1600m) winner Dawn Till Dusk, whose half-sister The Nightingale is the dam of the well-performed Infantry.

Angel in Bluejeans - Race ImagesThe New Zealand-bred son of Tavistock is a four-time Singapore stakes winner, including successes in the Singapore Derby (2000m) and the Kranji Mile (1600m), for trainer Alwin Tan.

Angel In Bluejeans has made her own mark at black type level this season with a third placing in the Listed Jakkalberry Classic (1950m) and the daughter of Mastercraftsman followed up with a last-start fourth over 2400m at Ellerslie.

"That was a good, tough run and she'll go to Counties next over 2400m and then we might have a go at the Waikato Cup," trainer Margaret Falconer said.

Angel In Bluejeans will step out in Saturday's Mount Shop Handicap at Pukekohe Park ahead of the Gr.3 Skycity Hamilton Waikato Cup (2400m) at Te Rapa on December 16.

"She's been quite a tricky mare and that's why she went down to Jonathan and Trina Riddell," Falconer said.

"She wasn't going in the gates and it was just inexperience. She's older now and she's got her confidence up.

"When Jonathan and Trina came up to Cambridge the mare came back to us and she's going really well."

Her younger half-sister Red Sky At Night, a daughter of Shocking, has also been successful three times from a handful of starts.

"She's had a few soundness issues," Falconer said. "She's quite talented and has got a bit more brilliance than the other mare." – NZ Racing Desk.
